Loyce Dawn Emig
November 1, 1943 - January 13, 2022
Loyce Dawn Wheeler Emig passed into the arms of Jesus at the age of 78, on January 13, 2022. She was a quiet person who preferred the company of only one or two people at a time. Loyce was born November 1, 1943, in Amarillo, TX, to Theota and Jesse Wheeler, and spent the first couple of years of her life in Texas. Then, the family moved to Washington state (Prosser-Grandview area). She lived very close to the county line - so close in fact that her next-door neighbor was considered a long-distance phone call because they lived in the neighboring county. She attended Prosser schools for 14 years. However, she did take one French class at Grandview High School during her senior year in 1962. She then went on to Washington State University in Pullman, earning a pharmacy degree in 1967. She mainly worked in retail pharmacy her whole career until retiring in 2011. She married her college sweetheart, Stanley Emig, in August 1967. After college, they lived and worked in Spokane for a few years before moving to Odessa, WA, in 1971. Two years later, they moved to Kennewick. She is survived by her only child, Alex; one nephew, Edward Youngblood, of Prosser, WA; two nieces, Deborah Halley-Hanson and Dorothy Cervantes, both of Grandview, WA. Loyce is also survived by her six "grandcats" whom she loved very much - Charles, Eli, Josh, Mary Jane, Zoey, and Curly. A memorial service for Loyce will be held on March 26 at 11am at Community Unitarian Universalist Church at 2819 Sylvester in Pasco. Due to COVID-19 protocols, there is limited capacity. However, the service will livestreamed on Zoom. To get the link, please send an email to [email protected] . In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Tri-City Chaplaincy or the Benton-Franklin Humane Society.
