Obituary

Wilma Jean (Roberts) Smith

Wilma Jean Smith, 92, of Kennewick, Washington, peacefully passed away on January 19, 2026. She was born on July 31, 1933, in Bartlett, Nebraska, to Ray and (Eva) Fern Roberts.

Wilma married Lee Edward Smith, on September 29, 1951 in Kennewick. They met at the Pollyanna Café, in Kennewick, when T-Bone steak dinners were $1.50.

Wilma grew up with humble means, but she carried herself with quiet dignity, strong values, and was steadfast in her faith. She believed in hard work, lived simply, and was careful with her money. Wilma frequently sent handwritten letters and notes and never adapted to email or texts. She also treasured the correspondence she received from loved ones. And while she was disciplined in many ways, she did have a sweet guilty pleasure: Chips Ahoy! cookies with extra chocolate chips.

Wilma was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her growing family. She touched many through her kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.

Wilma was preceded in death by her father, Ray Roberts (April 10, 1972); her mother, (Eva) Fern Roberts (January 19, 2001); her brother, Darwin Roberts (December 16, 2018); and her beloved husband, Lee Smith (November 8, 2021).

After Lee's passing, Wilma lived at Parkview Estates and Sunset Heights Adult Family Home.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Gene) Thompson, Barbara (Craig) Littrell, and Connie (Warren) Smith, grandchildren Chad Littrell, Jolee Schaben, Christopher Littrell, Jennifer Horst, Amy Kuchler, Ryan Horst, Tiffany Marcum and Shelley Hawkins as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Wilma will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her love, laughter, gentle spirit and her spunk.

All are welcome to attend her memorial service on Saturday, January 31, 1:00 p.m. at South Hills Church in Kennewick.
