William (Bill) Blair Zilar Jr, 83, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2018 in Pueblo, CO. Bill recently relocated to Pueblo to be closer to his children, after residing in Kennewick WA for over 35 years. He was born July 7, 1934 in Denver, CO. After proudly serving in the US Navy for over 23 years, Bill retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer TMCS (ss) with an honorable discharge in 1975. He enjoyed the camaraderie he shared with his fellow submarine veterans and reminiscing and sharing stories at reunions across the country. Upon retiring, he studied air conditioning and refrigeration and received an associate degree in applied science and then opened an appliance repair shop for three years in Pueblo West. He decided to return to Kennewick and worked 15 years for Richland Lutheran Church performing many mechanical and maintenance duties. Devoted to his faith, family and friends, Bill had a very kind heart and genuine caring for others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. As a worthy Brother, Bill was dedicated to his civic duty with the Knights of Columbus and The Parish of the Holy Spirit. With Bill, there were no strangers, only people waiting to be friends. Bill is preceded in death by his father, William Blair Zilar, Sr, his mother, Mary Grace Zilar, his wife of 61 years, Norma Zilar, and his brothers, John Zilar and Richard Zilar. He is survived by his brother, Larry (Mary) Zilar, sisters-in-law, Linda Zilar and Sherril Zilar, children, Debra (Steve) Oudean, David (Linda) Zilar, Katherine (Michael) Moon, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Services will be held at The Parish of the Holy Spirit, Kennewick, WA, at 11:00 on Friday, February 16, 2018, followed by graveside services, with Military Honors at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Kennewick, WA, at 2:00.
