William "Bill" Noel Sarver, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Although he will be missed, Bill leaves his family and friends a legacy of integrity, generosity, laughter, and love.

Born to Martha and Noel Sarver in San Francisco on December 6, 1937, Bill was the youngest of eight children.

After moving to Seattle and Coulee City, his family eventually settled in Kennewick, Washington, the community they would call home.

As a student at Kennewick High, Bill played sports, including football and track. More importantly, he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann, during their sophomore year. Immediately after graduation, they married on June 10, 1955, and spent the following 62 years creating a marriage founded on commitment, sacrifice, loyalty, and love.

Bill loved life and, in his typical go-getter fashion, took Barbara around the world. He raised his three sons (Mark, Patrick, and Sidney) to love the outdoors and sports. These traditions carried on to his grandchildren as well. Many a family story, told in Bill's humorous style (and of course, accompanied by whole-hearted laughter) included events from hunting in the Blue Mountains and fishing for salmon on the Kenai River in Alaska. ("Fish on!!")

When not enjoying the great outdoors, sitting on the sidelines at his sons' and grandchildren's sporting events, or watching his Zags play basketball, Bill worked to support his family and others. Serving as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Teamsters (Local 839) and holding a seat on the International Executive Board, Bill spoke proudly of the opportunities he had to negotiate contracts and ensure fair practices for its members. In fact, his generosity and support extended to anyone he met. If someone was in need, Bill tried to solve the problem. He volunteered at the Cancer Society. He donated to charities, especially the Union Gospel Mission. He made sure to give back and show his gratitude for the beautiful life he enjoyed.

Bill made a difference in the lives of others, but his career accomplishments cannot compare to his role as a father, grandfather, and head of his family. For Bill, life was family. He adored Barbara. He loved his sons and provided a solid example of what it meant to be a father. And his grandchildren? Let's just say that there was no better Papa around. Up until the end of his life, Bill spoke of the pride he felt for his children and grandchildren. His love, his hugs, his example will be missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife (Barbara Ann), parents (Martha and Noel), and siblings. He is survived by his sons Mark (Denise), Patrick (Michele), and Sidney (Laurie), his grandchildren (Erin, Sarah, Brandon, Courtney, Kennedy, and Jacob), and his great-grandchildren (Alex, Natalie, Savannah, Josie, and Ellowyn.)

Dad, Grandpa, Papa, we will always love you; we will always miss you. However, we know that you are dancing with your Barbara Ann, living the next chapter of your beautiful life.
