Obituary

William G. "Bill" Blomberg, 62, was born July 27 1961 in Spokane, WA and passed away on October 19, 2023 at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA from complications of Interstitial Lung Disease. He spent his childhood in Tieton, WA with his parents David "Pete" and Dolores Blomberg and brothers, where he learned responsibility and the value of hard work on the family apple ranch. He enjoyed camping with the family along the ORE-WA coast as well as fishing at Rimrock Lake and Clear Lake.

He played football and assisted with basketball statistics at Highland High School in Cowiche, WA. After graduation, he attended Yakima Valley Community College.

In 1982 he enlisted in the U.S. Army working as a multi-channel communications equipment operator. His duties included setting up and operating radio-telephones, including upgrade and repair of downed systems. Bill served his country in Germany, where he was also a battalion driver.

He married Cheryl Boatright in 1984 and lived in Salinas, CA while he was stationed at Fort Ord. After his honorable discharge from the Army, they moved back to WA. They divorced in 1986 but remained close friends.

He joined the Washington National Guard in Yakima in 1985.

He was a very dedicated 911 Call Taker for Sun Comm in Yakima for 27 years where he answered innumerable emergency calls. He was a true hero for those needing immediate help. The family is very grateful to Andrew Zuber for his tribute to Bill posted on Facebook last October 20th.

Bill was an avid photographer, loved music and performed in many productions at the Warehouse Theater in Yakima. After retirement, he moved from Tieton to Kennewick WA to be closer to his family. He maintained contact with his Sun Comm friends.

Bill is survived by his mother, Dolores Blomberg, Brother Dave (Mary) Nephew Adam (Jen) Nieces Karin and Laura, as well as many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother Bruce Blomberg, his father David "Pete" Blomberg, Grandparents A.E and Hulda Blomberg and Milton and Gertrude Rosenkranz.

At Bill's request, no memorial service will be held. Interment will be held at West Hills Memorial Park, Garden of Fallen Heroes, 11800 Douglas Rd, Yakima WA at a future date.

Bill's family is thankful for the many condolences received. His various cats gave him great companionship and comfort, and the family suggests memorial gifts be donated the Yakima Humane Society.
