William Howard
Adkins
Jun 14, 1948 — Oct 28, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Willy) Adkins, a beloved brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the age of 76. Born on June 14, William led a life marked by service, humor, and devotion to family.
William proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany for three years, developing a strong sense of duty that guided him throughout his life. Upon returning home, he dedicated his career to law enforcement, serving as a police officer for the Kennewick Police Department and in retirement, never one to sit idle, he continued to serve his community as a tax consultant, guiding clients with a mix of expertise and his trademark wit.
Above all else, William, known by his grandchildren as "Gpa Willy" was proud of his family. His two daughters were his greatest joy, and he cherished the time he spent with his four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is now reunited with one of his beloved daughters and a cherished granddaughter, who preceded him in passing. Their memory was always close to his heart, and his love for them endured beyond words. He was known for his sharp sarcasm, a loving nature, and a special knack for spoiling his grandchildren, each of whom held a unique place in his heart.
William is survived by his daughter, Kristien McKenzie (Scott), his grandchildren, Dr. LJ McKenzie (Emily), Payten Hart Flores (Devon), Ariana McKenzie (Malyk), his great-grandchildren, Kaion and Kailynn Walker, his four siblings Richard Adkins, Lenoir Adkins Harvey, Anita Francisco, and Donna Hanson and many extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A service to honor William's life will be at Mueller's Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick on Thursday, November 7th at 11:00am. The service will be held at the graveside with full military honors.
