Willard James Homer, "Jim," 88 of Harrington, WA returned to his heavenly home on January 23, 2024, at 5:53 p.m. at his daughter's home in Richland, WA surrounded by most of his children and several of his grandchildren. He was born on January 11, 1936, in Charlo, MT. He was sealed to Gwen Paramore on June 3, 1955, in the Idaho Falls, ID Temple. They were married for almost 63 years and had 10 children together. He tried farming but ended up working at Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Wallula, WA as a pipefitter/welder for 30 years, retiring in 2002.
Jim had a deep love of the Savior, Jesus Christ. He served as a Sunday School President, Teacher, Ward Mission Leader, and Counselor in a Branch Presidency for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jim also served in the Army from 1956 to 1962. He was a very hard worker and family was very important to him. He enjoyed spending time with family, attending family reunions, watching, and playing sports, playing pinochle, collecting coins, gardening, farming, and serving others.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Gwen; his daughter, Virginia Fay Homer; his parents, Russell Kent Homer, Sr., and Fay Wright Homer; and his siblings Eva Fay Mortenson Shaw, Russell Kent Homer, Jr., and David Homer.
Jim is survived by his siblings Lynn Homer (Gladys), Hugh Homer (Beverley), Alice Jo Johnson, Clea Aust, Ellen Godfrey, Bryce Homer (Lorraine), Don Homer (Jill), Midge Hamilton Blake, and Daniel Homer (Pam); his children Kevin Homer (Laraine), Kandie Rowlett (Mark), Troy Homer, Penni Hogan (Roy), Renita Wattenburger (Michael), Taryna Muthulingam (Kulenthira), Jolene Calzadillas (J. J.), Janese Crawford (Troy), and Dawnelle Pace (Arman); his 39 grandchildren; and 50 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints Stake Center Building at 2004 North 24th Avenue in Pasco, WA. A viewing will start at 12:00 p.m. and a family prayer will be given at 1:30 p.m. A family lunch will be provided after the services. The funeral will also be broadcast at https://www.youtube.com/@pascostake.
Jim will be buried in the Pleasant View Cemetery on Happy Hill Road in Ford (Tum Tum), WA on Saturday, February 3, 2024. A graveside service will start at 1:00 p.m. followed by refreshments at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building at 800 Southwest Lincoln Street, in Davenport, WA.
