Will Gravenslund was born in Kennewick, Washington where he was raised and graduated from Kamiakin HS in 1973. He then attended Harvard College majoring in government and devoting extra-curricular time to working with underprivileged children, rowing, and the Institute of Politics. After graduating in 1977, Will attended the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business and graduated with his MBA in 1982. Between college and graduate school, Will worked to support the state senate campaign of his mother's sister, Ann Sandstrom. After completing his graduate work in Chicago, Will joined Harbridge House in Boston (a firm specializing in organizational consulting and executive education) where he remained until co-founding Korn Ferry Organizational Consulting in 1991. In 1996, Will co-founded The Corlund Group with Deborah Cornwall, his business partner from 1982 through 2015. Corlund specialized in leadership effectiveness at the chief executive level, board effectiveness, and change management, sohemical, and health care. Some of Will's favorite work included pro-bono engagements at the Kennedy Presidential Library Foundation and Harvard University's Institute of Politics. Throughout his years on the east coast, Will continued active ties in Washington State including three decades of serving as a counselor and instructor for the Association of Washington School Principals high school leadership program. Among his west coast friends, he was known for the regularity of his monthly trips to Kennewick. Will remained active in the management of his family's Kennewick business activities including Washington Hardware and Furniture Company in historic downtown Kennewick, a business where his grandfather had first started in 1919. Will maintained ties to his alma mater through his membership in the Harvard Club and committee work for the class reunions. He was particularly pleased to have co-chaired the Harvard & Radcliffe Class of 1977 Longitudinal Study, an effort now in its sixth wave. Both east and west coast friends looked forward to his annual rooftop lobster dinners with the July 4th Fireworks and Boston Pops serving as a backdrop. And in recent years, Will developed a love of sailing that took him from weekend in Boston jaunts in Boston Harbor to more challenging, longer sails that included the Caribbean, Croatia and Tahiti. Among family members, Will was known for his dedication to maintaining strong connections among branches of the family residing across the country. His greatest passion was the time he spent with his immediate family in Kennewick. Will died in Kennewick on June 22, 2015. He was predeceased by his father, John Gravenslund. Will is survived by his mother, Marian Gravenslund, his brother John Gravenslund (Kim), his sister Vicki Gravenslund (Bill Shaffer), his niece Kelley Gravenslund (Tom Lachmann) and nephews: Rio, Scout, and Spanky. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any remembrances in Will's name be made to Hospice at The Chaplaincy or a charity of your choice.
