Wes, loving husband and father, passed away November 30th 2011, at From the Heart adult family home in Pasco WA. He was born December 4th 1938 in Buckeye Arizona to John Wesley Avery and Laurisa Lindell Myrtle Strebeck Avery. Wes had fond memories of Arizona and the adventures it offered to a young man growing up in the desert. He met his loving wife on a blind date in Wickenburg Arizona and he followed her and her family to Oregon, where they married in April of 1961. Being the adventures soul he was, Wes joined the US Air Forces which he honorably served for 20 yrs. The Air Force provided him with numerous opportunities to continue to fulfill his adventurous spirit. Wes became a resident of Pasco in 1980 after retiring from the US Air Force. He worked for a number of years at Nortec in Kennewick; it was here that he finished his working career. Wes enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, tinkering with old cars, and always loved a good joke. The family would like to extend thanks to the loving caregivers From the Heart adult family home, which treated Wes as family with their incredible care and sensitivity. They would also like to thank the Tri-City Chaplaincy Hospices staff for all of their support and guidance provided to the family, through Wes's final journey to peace. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Linda Platt Avery, daughter Sherry Jeff Orthmann, son Wayne, brother-in-law Greg Gilliam, nephew Chris Gilliam Ilka, nephew Bryan Gilliam, great-niece Sarah Gilliam, great-nephew Andrew Gilliam and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister Bessie Oleta Avery and sister-in-law Wendy Gilliam. He will always be remembered as a kind, dedicated family man and will be missed by all who knew him.
