Wendell Cazier passed away peacefully in his home on February 25th, 2024. He was one of the purest, most perfect souls to ever inhabit a body on this planet and was able to live a fulfilled 63 years. Wendell loved attending local music, sporting, and church events whenever physically able. He especially loved helping others, whether that entailed setting up, taking down, acting as doorman, sweeping gym floors, keeping his team well hydrated, or rooting energetically for his favorite players. He was a true-blue fan and often seen in recent years at CBC, Chiawana, and Dust Devil games. He also loved helping at the CBC Jazz Unlimited Festival each Spring and attending Jazz Nights.

Wendell was born in September of 1960 in Southern Idaho and moved to the Tri-City region with his family in 1966. Due to complications at birth he had limited communication skills. He was able to enroll in special programs to help with this disability. One such program was offered in Hanford schools where he was a student during his adolescent years and earned a high school diploma. This is also where he developed a love for band music and could be seen often helping and encouraging the HHS Marching Band during fall practices, or waving his hands as if he were auditioning to be the next Drum Major. Wendell also loved participating in Special Olympics during his school years, sponsored by The Arc of Tri-Cities.

His family wants to thank many Tri-City organizations and individuals for the years of help, support and patience given to Wendell. This support allowed him to feel like a true part of our community while doing his favorite things. He often had difficulty trusting people and he could become frustrated or frustrating. To those whom he came to trust, who offered him kindness and patience, please know that you are very important! His face will be missed at many events in our community. If you ever received a big smile or laugh from Wendell or called his "Big Guy," you are truly blessed!

Wendell is survived by siblings Bob, Russell, Andy, Ben, Patti, Ina, David, John, and Vicki. He was preceded in death by his parents, E. Callis and Shirley Cazier and two siblings, Clara and Alan.

A graveside service will be held on March 8th, 11AM at City View Cemetery in Pasco. More details may be obtained through Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home in Kennewick.
