Wendel Lathrop came in to this world April 23, 1939, into the loving arms of Chester and Meribeth Lathrop. He joined his brother Bud and sister Barbara growing up in Sutter, California. He was active in church and Boy Scouts, which he received as Eagle in. He also enjoyed the Future Farmers of America. He graduated with high honors. He joined the Navy for four years, where he was on the US Fox. After the Navy he was employed in California where he met and fell in love with Carolyn. They were married on March 14, 1964 and were still going strong until his death. He went into the professional Boy Scouts of America. He served in Oakland, California; Eugene, Oregon, Coos Bay, Oregon; Sunnyside, Washington; Walla Walla, Washington and Kennewick, Washington. They made their home in Kennewick, Washington for about 36 years.

Wendel Lathrop and Carolyn had two children, Jeff Lathrop and Cindy Lathrop, two grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
