Warren Guy Wilson, age 85, of Richland, Washington passed away October 4, 2022 at home after a lengthy illness. Born October 1,1937 in Great Falls, Montana, Warren was a longtime chemical engineer at the Hanford Nuclear Facility. He enjoyed working on process improvements at the N reactor especially. Preceding Warren in death were his parents, Floyd D and Lorna M Wilson of Great Falls, Montana, his wife Charleen Cereck Wilson, also born in Great Falls, and son Blaine Wilson and daughter Cindy Wilson. Warren is survived by his three younger brothers: Stuart J Wilson of Kalispell, Montana,  F Scott Wilson of Reno, Nevada , and Kirk G Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia. Warren also had five grandchildren and a brand new great-grandchild he had the great pleasure of meeting only a few days ago on his 85th birthday. Warren was both an avid wine connoisseur and golfer. Charleen shared his fondness for a superb vintage of wine paired with a great meal. His buddies at Horn Rapids Golf Club along with his three brothers were his second family on the golf course. A brilliant chipper and putter, if Warren was within 50 yards, he was sure to get up and down. For over twenty consecutive years Warren joined his three brothers each summer for a weeklong golf-a-thon somewhere in the Pacific Northwest including Canada. Warren loved to garden and being an engineer, his backyard flower and vegetable garden was always immaculate. He spent many enjoyable hours tending his plants and produce including an apple orchard nearby at one time. Warren completed his degree in chemical engineering and went to work right out of college at Anaconda Copper smelter in Great Falls where he met his sweetheart and life partner Charleen. They moved to the Tri-Cities after bringing both Cindy and Blaine into this world. They frequently gathered with Charleen's sister and family in Seattle for vacations. Warren enjoyed a good novel, playing cards, and tinkering with golf equipment in his garage. He re-crafted several sets of golf clubs to meet his exacting desires. He loved his dog Abby, who also survives him. She was his constant companion in his last few years. Warren was patient and generous, and his engineer's mind enjoyed thinking through every detail. For those who got to know him, he could disarm you with his humility, his soft spoken directness or his playful sense of humor. While he was frugal by nature, in his retirement years he enjoyed traveling and splurging on rental homes to share with family and friends in beautiful places like the Hood Canal, Cape Cod, Santa Barbara, Hawaii and Mexico. Cremation has taken place and the family will celebrate his life privately in a location to be determined in a few weeks when all can gather. Memorials should be made to the charity of their choice.
