Wardell Braxton January 4, 1925~May 10, 2014 Wardell Braxton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 10th, 2014. He was born in Whitton, MS January 4, 1925 to Clarence and Annie Braxton. He came to Tacoma seeking work as a young man and ended up later in Pasco where he met and married Gloria Ann and together they raised ten kids. He was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church. Dad worked as a laborer, all over the northwest helping to build several dams and also worked at other construction projects until landing work at Hanford, where he retired after working for over 30 years. He was a member of various clubs such as the Elks and the Masons. He was also a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America since 1947. Dad was known throughout the community and called mostly by his last name "Braxton". He was known for his kindness and willingness to help others. Dad loved hunting, fishing and working in the garden. Fishing was probably one of the main things that he loved to do the most. He also loved to spend time with his family during family gatherings such as fish-fry's, and barbecues. He always had a good joke to share and enjoyed telling stories to friends and family about how life was for his generation and growing up during the times when he was younger. Dad could fix almost anything and was always willing to help others, especially other elderly. He started a lawn care business shortly after retiring. He was loved by everyone he met. Dad was a good Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend and just overall "good people". He will be truly missed by all the lives that he has touched. Dad is survived by brothers Clarence Braxton of Michigan City, IN. Sister Annie Mae Bush of Walnut Ridge, AR. Daughter Cookey Braxton-Hawkins of Sacramento, CA. Sons Isadore Henderson (Sadie), Tyrone Henderson (Mareesa) of Spokane, WA, Jesse Henderson, and Wardell Braxton Jr. Daughters, Kimberly Henderson-Bracks, Darlinda Henderson-Goodwin, Annette Culp (Gary) of Seattle, WA, Jeannette Hungerford (Brandon) of Ronan, MT; Twila and Mary Braxton of Houston, TX.; Also Twenty six grandchildren, and at last count twenty great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Annie Braxton, Wife Gloria Ann Braxton, Brothers A.C. Braxton of St Louis, MO, Clark Braxton of Rockford IL, James Braxton of Hoxie, AR and Joe Braxton of Seattle, WA. Viewing will be Friday, May 23, 2014 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home 1608 W. Court St., Pasco. The funeral service will be Saturday, May 24 at 11:00am at New Hope Baptist Church 630 S. Waldemar Ave. Pasco, with interment to follow at City View Cemetery.
