Virginia Ohrt passed away peacefully October 28, 2011 in the Peace of Mind Adult Care Home, Richland, where she has been living for the past three years. She was born to Homer and Helen Fancher Hausafus on April 22, 1918 in Granite City, Illinois, and married William Ohrt in 1946 in Los Angeles, California. They moved with their three children to Kennewick in 1958 where the family homesteaded, broke ground and built a home and farm. Mom, the city girl, soon learned how to manage a farm, take care of livestock, help weed the crops, drive the tractor, take care of payroll and can the abundant fruit. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and daughter, Cheryl. She is survived by daughter, Bonnie Seattle and son, Randy Kennewick. The family would like to thank the terrific staff at Peace of Mind for the loving care that they provided Mother in her final years. Bianca, Micki, Liz, Wendy and Olga were there for her and very much loved as part of the family. Thanks Pat for being there for Mom and having such a sweet and devoted crew. Mom loved you all to her dying day. Thanks also to Anita, Colleen and Craig, the Hospice at The Chaplaincy team members, for the eleventh hour assistance they generously gave. No memorial service is planned.
