Violet was born on April 5th, 1934, in Port Orchard, WA. Her parents were George and Ella (Forbes) Midland. As a young girl Vi and her parents moved to North Prosser. Later her father opened an auto wrecking yard just west of Prosser. Vi graduated from Prosser High School in 1953. She was next to the oldest of 10 brothers and sisters born to George and Ella.

She moved to Kennewick and found employment with General Telephone in the commercial office. Evenings she walked across the street from the phone company and worked in Visger Drug Store.

On St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, 1955, she met the love of her life, Bruce McCord on a blind date. They were married on September 16th, 1955, in Pasco. Vi quit the phone company in order to be a stay-at-home mom. In July of 1958 her son, Corey was born. In October of 1958 the family was transferred to Spokane. They remained in Spokane for only a year and then transferred back to Pasco in October 1959. In November of 1961 Vi gave birth to her son, David.

In 1968 she returned to work for General Telephone and subsequently retired with 30 years of total service. Her retirement years were spent with family, friends and her "Bingo" buddies.

She is survived by sons, Corey and David. Grandchildren, Somer, Ian and Cassidy. Sister Ella Murphy and husband Vic, Edie Miller, Dale Midland and wife Teddy, Patty Esch, Roy Midland, Georgeanna Height and Phyllis Thompson. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers George, Charles and sister Norma.
