Obituary

Velma Hurd, a longtime resident of Kennewick, Washington, passed away on August 17 th , 2022. Velma was born in Barnsdall, Okla., on July 10, 1929, to Robert W. Brown and Eugenia Lindsey Brown.

She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Trios Hospital. She was 93 years old.

She resided in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, for a good share of her life before moving to Tri Cities Washington. She raised her family in Coeur d' Alene, worked for the Forest Service at the Coeur d' Alen Tree Nursery, where she retired after many years.

She loved the outdoors, planting everything she could, an avid gardener. Growing up during the great depression gave her a different view on things, didn't like to waste anything, she even knew how to make gravy from water! She was very fortunate to be living by herself all this time until a few months ago. Loved western movies, and the country music, she also rode horses and liked rodeos, she watched them all the time. Rode 4-wheelers. Watching the squirrels in her yard, she'd get a kick out of them fighting over the peanuts and running on the rails of the porch. Loved dogs, especially her little dog Jo.

Collected old things, and weird things, Purple cows, salt and pepper shakers, buffaloes, and bulls.

Her existing family includes: two daughters, a son-in-law, two grand-daughters, and one grandson. Three Great-grandsons and a Great-granddaughter. Her grandson, grand daughters and great grand children, were her most cherished memories.

Preceded in death were her parents, and siblings.

"THERE IS NO DEATH, ONLY A CHANGE OF WORLDS."
