Velma Odell Bottorff went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on June 9th, 2013. She was just shy of her 84th birthday. June 18th, 1929 marked the day she was born in Marvell, Arkansas. On June 19th, 1946 she was married to Ellis Fred Bottorff and by 1950 they had packed their bags and together with a group of their families they moved West. Those early years of marriage when residing in the Vancouver and Portland areas she found herself to be a minister's wife and the loving Mother of three children. Her twin boys kept her hopping, but she always had time to yard sale. One would say Velma was an avid bargain shopper and along with her sisters the hunt was on. Her baby sister remembers a quiet, mischievous nature that she kept under wraps, but brought out to be a lot of fun, too! In the seventies Velma and Fred moved here to the Tri-City area to be closer to her family. In fact, by the end of that decade all her family was living here. Velma was preceded in death by her true love Ellis Fred Bottorff, son , Lloyd, father and mother, Pink and Sally Snyder, sisters, Bea Davis and Helen Edden. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Crumley and son, Floyd Bottorff along with brothers, Philip and Paul Snyder and sister, Violet Bricker. Velma's career consisted of being a nurse and later retired as a cashier. Her sewing skills were put to use in making quilts for her family, who were very important to her. In her early thirties she came down with Tuberculosis and for a year was away from them. She was a survivor and her love for the Lord always sustained her. Velma could take a spark of Praise for God and turn it into a fire. A special thank you goes out to three nieces, Diane, Penny and Joy along with a devoted care giver Ginny that took such good care of her during this transition time of going home. She will be missed much. It is our loss, but Heaven's gain! Viewing will be at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home on Union Street in Kennewick between 5:oo pm-8:oo pm on Thursday the 13th of June. The family invites all that would like to attend the graveside service at Desert Lawn Memorial Park on Friday the 14th, 2013 at 11:00 to come join us in celebrating her life.
