Vance Leslie Moe of Burbank Washington was born November 21, 1948, in Portland Oregon to parents Vern and Ruth Moe and passed away February 3, 2024, in Richland Washington at the age of 75 years. Vance grew up and attended school in Battle Ground Washington, served in the U.S. Army and worked in the trucking, industrial coatings, and farming industries. He enjoyed life with his wife Diane and was a loving father to son Robert and daughter Hallie.

Growing up Vance learned to hunt, fish, camp and have a good time with his aunts and uncles and their lessons remained with him for life. Those life lessons included teaching him how to play competitive games of cribbage and poker. He took pleasure in sitting around a firepit with a fine scotch and cards in hand. Vance liked to entertain and had an appreciation for music – there was not a party without Pink Floyd blaring out his Magneplaner speakers. He found fun going on road trips to concerts throughout the years with family and friends.

In his younger summers he would volunteer his time and boat as a patrol/tow operator at the Tri-Cities Water Follies where he and his labrador retrievers made many new friends each year. He liked the calm early morning water but loved the action-packed racing afternoons. Boating was a favorite pastime – Robert, Hallie and their friends looked forward to riding on their tubes behind his boat until they flew off screaming - there were a few black eyes and a broken wrist, but they could not wait to get back on their tubes again. During the winter months the family spent their weekends traveling around the Northwest searching for the ideal powder snow to ski. As he got older vacations in warmer weather were desired - his favorite was the Virgin Islands – where he would fish, snorkel, and explore marine life.

Family was foremost and the role of grand papa was very dear to his heart. Vance, his son-in-law Chance, and his grandson Spencer shared a passion for racing. He took immense pride in his grandson, a go-kart racer. Traveling to northwest track events was a favorite family activity. Everyone knew whose grand papa he was - the loudest cheerer at the track. He also enjoyed taking his grandson with him fishing and turkey hunting.

Vance had a big heart and generous soul and could express a good story – especially a good fishing story! He spent his final years catching boatloads of fish and he had pictures to prove it! Vance loved participating in the fishing community which became his extended family. He had the best fishing companions, and his family would like to thank them for taking an old guy but young at heart out for fishing and forever a good time.

Vance is survived by wife Diane, son Robert Moe, daughter Hallie Fricke, son-in-law Chance Fricke, grandson Spencer Fricke and his beloved goldendoodles Waylon and Reba. He is further survived by brother-in-law Roger Farrar, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a lot of good friends and fishing buddies. Vance was preceded in death by his parents Vern and Ruth Moe, sisters Janet, Shirley, Elaine and Helen, and those dear aunts and uncles.

Vance was much loved and will truly be missed. A celebration of life shall be held at the Charbonneau Park Overlook Shelter on June 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Please come and share your stories and favorite memories for all to enjoy.
