Obituary

CWO-4 (Ret) Thomas A. Pitkin Sr. passed away on 11-2-12 at his home in Kennewick surrounded by his family. Tom was born in Dashpoint, WA. to Charles and Lucille Pitkin on 7-21-35. The family moved to Coburg, OR. soon after and Tom was raised there. Tom left home after graduating from High School and joined the Coast Guard where he served for 27 years. He married Sandra Sample in 1955 and raised 3 children, Deborah Atkins, Karen (Steven) Solnicka and Thomas (Louise) Pitkin Jr. He became the commanding office to the Kennewick Coast Guard Station for 4 years. His family remained here when he was sent to Governers Island in New York. Tom retired from the Coast Guard in Kennewick in 1979 after the death of his first wife Sandy. He worked for Sandvik Special Metals for 11 years and was married to his second wife Carole Davis Pitkin for 33 years. He was an ardent bowler for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Pitkin, sisters Clara Jones and Judy Keopple, stepson Michael Davis. Tom is survived by his sister Jean Van Den Bos, his 3 children Deborah, Karen and Tom Jr., wife Carole, 3 stepsons Steven, Brian and Alan Davis. Graveside services at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 12:30 p.m., Friday, November 30th with Memorial at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Grange at 1500 S. Union.
