Obituary

Thomas Edwin Duzan died peacefully at Sacred Heart Hospital, Spokane, WA following a stroke on Nov. 7, 2014, his 72nd birthday, with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born in Paris, Illinois, on Nov. 7, 1942, the oldest son of Larry and Catherine Duzan. He and his family lived on a farm there, and moved to Woodland, California in 1959. It was there he met Edwina, the love of his life. They were teen-age sweethearts and married in 1964. Tom worked as a manager for Purity Grocery stores in California and Mayfair Markets in Oregon for many years. He purchased his first store, the Kennewick Red Apple Market, in 1984. He and Edwina have been an integral part of the Tri-City community since 1979. Tom loved to hunt, fish, and fly, taking many trips with friends in search of the big catch. Preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Catherine Duzan, brother Don and sister Peggy, Tom is survived by his wife of 50 years, Edwina. He also leaves behind his daughter Carole, son-in-law Jim Dunks, granddaughter Anne, her husband Michael Taylor, brothers Joe (Heather) Duzan and Phil Duzan, sisters Linda (Denny) Hackett and Betty Anne (Art) Smith, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was a man with a big heart, ready to befriend anyone, and he has left a Tom-shaped hole in our lives. The Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am, Saturday November 15th, at the Kennewick Senior Center, 500 S Auburn St, Kennewick, WA with a reception to follow.
