Thelma Gitthens Mann Rutherford died on April 23, 2014 in Selah, Washington at the age of 100. She was born at the family farm in Amber, Oklahoma on April 5, 1914, the seventh of nine siblings. She married Troy Mann on September 3, 1934, in Oklahoma. Their son Dwaine was born the following year in Amber. During the 40's and 50's the family traveled the West Coast working for Studebaker dealerships, including Ellensburg, Yakima, and the Tri Cities. Thelma worked as a waitress and a meat wrapper and was a member of the meat cutter's union. She became a member of the Pasco Eagles organization after moving to Pasco and rose to the office of State President in 1974. Following the death of her first husband, she met and married Louis Rutherford in 1979. Following his retirement they moved to Kooskia, Idaho, where she became a member of the Kooskia Rebecca Lodge. After Louis' death in 1998, she returned to Pasco and in 2003, she moved to the Yakima area to be nearer to family. She was a generous woman and friend to all she met. She enjoyed getting in the car and riding through the countryside although she was only licensed as a "Back Seat Driver". She was preceded in death by both her husbands, her son Dwaine, her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marion Mann of Yakima, grandsons Greg Mann of Newman Lake, David Mann of Wenatchee, Jon Mann of Yakima, and Mike Mann of Auburn, WA. and six great-grandchildren.
