Our sweet "Mama" passed away from this life to her eternal home in Heaven, during the early morning hours of September 6, 2015 at the age of 89. Sylvia Foss was born May 1, 1926 in Buelah, North Dakota and later resided in Missoula, Montana where she met and married Vernon Foss on January 12, 1946. They were blessed with four children while living in Missoula and had been married 66 years at the time of Vernon's death. They resided in Kennewick for most of those years. Sylvia had an immeasurable love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and for her family. She came to a personal relationship with the Lord at West Highlands Baptist Church and for the past 25 years, attended Community Bible Church. She dearly loved her church family and looked forward to hearing the Word taught every Sunday. For several years, Sylvia served in Christian Women's Club, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and a local T.O.P.S. group. One of her greatest joys was being a part of the Family Gospel Singers which included her husband, sons, daughters-in-law and dear friends. In her later years, she began oil painting and left her beautiful work for her family and many friends to enjoy. Sylvia is survived by her children Sharlene (Jack) Cooper, Cara Foss, Jerry (Joyce) Foss, Jim (Diane) Foss, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She also leaves behind a sister Janice Woods and brother Ken Helman. She is preceded in death by her husband Vernon, and granddaughter Alicia. There will be a celebration of Sylvia's life at Community Bible Church, 5807 West Umatilla Ave. Kennewick, WA on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Sylvia's greatest joy came from her knowledge of God's word and longed for the day He would call her Home. There is no doubt in our mind that at that moment she heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Welcome Home"
