Stina "Kristie" Frances Rounds was born on March 16, 1969, in Kennewick, Washington, to Sandra Rounds Call and Arthur Rounds. As she was a "Pisces" child, she showed early signs of loving exotic animals, music, dancing, a flare for art, and enjoyed hobbies such as antiques, knitting, crocheting, sewing, making beaded jewelry, herbal healthcare, and collecting bells. Her favorite color was blue. While attending high school in Kennewick, she enjoyed acting and dancing in plays and productions such as the "King and I, and "Fiddler on the Roof." She fell in love with the German language during high school, which resulted in two foreign exchange students staying with the family in the States and in return, Kristie was an exchange student and traveled to Germany in 1985 during her sophomore year. Her journey in Germany was split between two homes; the first host family was in Boppard, and second host family was in Hussien. Kristie loved animals and to accommodate apartment living, she settled on loving and caring for Ferrets. She called them "woozles." Ferrets loved to playa lot, so she sewed tunnels for them to play in, take them for walks, and carry them around with her in a pouch bag. They were her extended family and brought her a lot of company and companionship. After high school, she moved to Sumner, enrolled in Green River College for some classes; during this time Kristie became a Certified Nursing Assistant for the State of Washington. She moved to Atlanta, GA., for about two years then moved back to the Tri-Cities. She enrolled in Columbia Basin College in 1993 and continued to work as a CNA. She enjoyed taking care of her clients monitoring their vitals, administering medicine, making sure to meet their needs. She worked with paraplegics, deaf, blind, mentally disabled, and Alzheimer patients. To help communicate with the deaf, she learned "signing." Kristie was a very caring person, and many times would load up her clients in a van and take them to activities they could attend and participate in. While attending Columbia Basin College, she worked for the Hillcrest Convalescent Home Alzheimer patients, Pasco, and Life Care Center of Kennewick, in the evenings. After receiving an AA in General Education, she enrolled in University of Washington UW in 1996. At this time, she transferred her CNA status to Seattle and continued to work in the evenings for the state. In her senior year at UW, Kristie requested a "leave of absence" from the State due to a back injury, and finished her B.A. degree in Fine Arts, Sculpture, with a minor in Music, in 2001. To celebrate, she bought a 100 year-old solid oak piano and played the piano and guitar. She eventually added an antique banjo and flute to her collection of musical instruments. Art work was her life and passion. She enjoyed working with wax and metal sculptures, pottery, sketches, and all types of materials and textures to create unusual art work. She had turned a bedroom into an art studio for her projects which included her welding and foundry equipment! She thoroughly enjoyed producing works on human anatomy and had sold several of her metal figurines to acquaintances. She was a fan of Monet, Von Gogh, and Picasso. While at UW and taking more German, she never lost her love for foreign languages. She joined the International Student Exchange group and became acquainted with several exchange students and enjoyed showing the students the sights of Seattle. To change her occupation, she enrolled in Northwest College in Seattle for pharmacology classes in 2003 and finished in 2005, serving her internship at Bartell Drugs. She subsequently became employed with the University of Washington Outpatient Pharmacy as a Pharmacist Technician in 2006. Also, at this time, she also passed the National Pharmacy Technician exam. She was respected and loved by all her family, friends, fellow classmates, and coworkers at UW. She will be deeply missed. Stina "Kristie" Frances Rounds passed away on November 13, 2010 from a surgical procedure called "ablation" as she had developed a condition called "Atrioventricular Nodal Reentry Tachycardia AVNRT. Kristie is survived by her parents Sandra Rounds Call and husband Russell Call, father Arthur Rounds, and brother David Rounds. Uncles Harry Lucus, Utah; Don Rounds, Mulketeo, Vic Rounds, Spokane. Cousins Julie Lucus-Keller, Utah; Brett Lucus, China; Craig Lucus, Utah; Lori Kinsman, Virginia; Tracie Zalucha, Idaho, and Terry Eizenberg, Idaho. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Goldie Lucus, Edith and Louis Rounds and an aunt, Betty Lucus Hanlon. Graveside services will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 10th and Union Street, Kennewick, WA., on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 2:00 pm. Times for final visitation at Mueller?s Tri-Cities Funeral Home, adjacent to the cemetery, will be on Friday, December 3, 2010, at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Celebration of life will be held afterwards at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home with a potluck and memorabilia in the Hospitality Room.
