He was a son, brother, uncle and friend but his favorite titles were Husband, Dad and Papa. Steve lived a life full of dedication to his family, career, and passions.

Steve proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Third-Class Petty Officer aboard the USS Saratoga. As a Fuel Systems Specialist, he contributed to the ship's operations with skill and precision. He was honorably discharged in 1976 after completing his service.

Following his time in the Navy, Steve embarked on a career that showcased his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He worked for Roto-Rooter for several years in Western Washington and the Tri-Cities before joining the City of Richland as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. Over the course of his 29 years with the city, Steve earned the Washington Operator of the Year Award and was a respected member of his team until his retirement in 2020.

Steve’s life was enriched by his many hobbies and interests. He found joy in camping and fishing, attending the local boat races, cheering on Cougar football games, and cruising. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his family. Known for his no-nonsense demeanor paired with a wicked sense of humor and love of storytelling, Steve brought laughter and warmth to those around him.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jolene, his children Derrick (Sarah), Morgan (Chad), and Travis (Johnnae); and eight grandchildren: Eden (Matt), Halle, Conner, Jaelen, Emerson, Emery, Hawkins, and Sawyer.
