Obituary

Steven Michael Godfrey, 73yrs, of Kennewick, WA, entered into God’s arms on October 14, 2026. Born in Richland, WA. Graduated Kennewick High 1971. Attended Columbia Basin College and graduated Eastern Washington University 1974. He married his one and only, Cynthia Lynne Trotter in December 1974. After working for Ralph M. Parsons in Pasadena, CA for two years, he returned to Washington state to work at Hanford, while living in Benton City. Before retiring, he worked in decommissioning at the Umatilla Chemical Depot in Oregon.

He is preceded in death by his mother/father (Betty/Earl Godfrey) and his brother (Robert Godfrey). He is survived by his wife Cynthia Trotter/Godfrey, his daughter Jennifer Godfrey and her husband Ryan Green, also by siblings Pat/Les Myers and Bruce/Elaine Godfrey, along with beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In his 30s, Steve was able to purchase his family home in Kennewick overlooking the Columbia River, where he resided for 35 years. He was proud of his home and worked tirelessly on it and his beautiful flower gardens. He often supplied his wife and loved ones with beautiful bouquets and seed jars. Friends and family will fondly remember barbecues and front yard gatherings during 4th of July and Tri-City Water Follies. Steve enjoyed fishing and spending time at the gun range, target shooting. Some might be surprised to know that he enjoyed learning sign language, Morse code and knot tying. He fiercely loved his wife, daughter, son-in-law, family and friends, praying for them every evening. He will be forever missed and is now safely in God’s hands, free of pain and the hardships of this world.

God’s blessings and ours to all those who loved him and knew him. Many thanks to everyone who has reached out to us with love and support.
