Shirley Joan Ramm Van Buren, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, caring daughter, beloved friend, and loyal member of her community, passed away on July 2, 2026, at the age of 86.

Shirley was born on July 18, 1939, in Odessa, Washington. The family loves telling the story that she was delivered by the town veterinarian and, because there was no local hospital, was tucked safely into a dresser drawer for her first bed. She was an only child, raised on her family's wheat farm, where she developed the strong work ethic and generous spirit that would define her life.

Shirley met Larry, the love of her life, on a blind date. Together they spent countless hours at the local lake "drowning worms" and building a life centered on love, family, and faith. She was a devoted wife who loved faith and worked tirelessly for her family. Their marriage was built on commitment, sacrifice, and the simple act of showing up for one another every day, no matter how difficult the road became.

Shirley had the hands of a creator and the tireless heart of a servant. She sowed seeds of love throughout every corner of her community, bringing people together through church gatherings, bazaars, game nights, Grange Christmas parties, and the Hunters Breakfast. She helped operate the local food bank, making sure her neighbors were always cared for. Whether she was spreading joy as the Easter Bunny or serving treats during Kahlotus Days, she had a gift for bringing smiles to everyone she met.

Teaching and mentoring others brought Shirley great joy. She served as a Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, Bible school teacher, and spent many summers hauling children to Camp Wooten, helping shape young lives with patience, kindness, and faith.

Her award-winning wheat arrangements, prize-winning jams, and legendary baking were matched only by her love of sewing, painting, and gardening. As she now rests in the Master's garden, we remember a life filled with the joyful melodies of Lawrence Welk, the laughter of Hee Haw, and a rich harvest of good deeds that touched countless lives.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Larry, and her son, Lee.

She is survived by her son, Leonard; her daughters, Sharon and Teresa; and her eight cherished grandchildren: Brian, Lane, R.J., Logan, Cole, Zack, Emily, and Luke.

Shirley's legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the community she faithfully served, and the many lives she touched through her generosity, compassion, and unwavering love.
