Psalm 34:18 - The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was lovingly held and kissed as she peacefully breathed her final breath on earth. She then entered into the Holy Light of Christ her King and Savior. We miss her presence deeply, she was the sweet center of our family. She is rejoicing now in the Heavenly realm and that smooths our pain knowing we will be with her again in the future. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016, 11 am, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Sunnyside, WA. A reception lunch will follow. Shirley was born in Scottsbluff, NE on July 22, 1933, to Martha Kraft Klippert and John J. Klippert. When she was a child the family relocated to Sunnyside WA to continue grape and asparagus farming. The family were members of Calvary Lutheran Church and she attended Sunnyside High School. She married Ernest Glen Paradis on April 19, 1952. Mom and Dad lived in Sunnyside a few years while raising a family, but employment called them to Tacoma for a couple years, where another child was born. In 1959 with four children they settled in Kennewick WA. The family was completed in 1961 with the birth of their last child. For many years they were members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and we five children attended Bethlehem Lutheran School. We are grateful for the firm foundation of faith provided to us at a young age by wonderful parents God gave us. Mom provided a secure happy environment for us to grow up in. She was so kind and encouraging! She sewed many lovely school and Christmas dresses for her daughters. In later years she was sewing quilt projects. There were always stunning roses in her garden. She especially loved growing herbs and various kinds of lavender. She loved to read, so at any given time there were several books she was involved in at the same time. When walking from room to room at home there would be book with a bookmark on the side table, waiting for her to pick it up and continue. As children, we would draw pictures of our Mom holding a book in her hand and a coffee cup in the other! Once her children were grown and Dad retired, Mom's dream of living near the ocean came true. They moved to Newport OR in 1997 and spent seven years there walking the beaches, volunteering at local schools, and as active members of All Nations Lutheran Church. As the family of great-grandchildren continued to increase, they decided to return to the Tri-cities to be near them. A new home was built in West Richland in 2005. Preceding Mom in death were her parents, a brother Oliver who was killed in WWII at the age of 18, and her first born child Bradley Glen. Mom is survived by Glen, her husband of sixty-three years; her siblings: Evelyn Eirich, Sunnyside; Josephine Eirich, Cincinnati; Cora (Laurie) Woodworth, Baker City; Sally Cobane, Yakima; Clayton (Gerri) Klippert, Spokane; Stanley (Bobbi) Klippert, Bremerton; Michael (Laura) Klippert, Yakima; sister-in-law Arlene Paradis, Camano Island; brother-in-law Loyla (Maria) Paradis, Bend, OR; and many nieces and nephews that were dear to her. Her children: Amy (Dale) Selch, Richland; Trish (David) Taylor, Milwaukie OR; Noreen (Lance) Gagon, Memphis TN; Jonathan (Elena) Paradis, Folsom CA; Wendy (Robert) Carlson, Tacoma WA; former son-in-law Curtis Morrow, West Richland. Her grandchildren: Conrad (Caroline) Morrow, Andrea (Jason) Cook, Dustin (Erin) Morrow, all of Richland; Tara (Kevin) Hampson, Mt. Hood Village OR; Emily (John) Christensen of Milwaukie OR; Ariana (Dimitry) Drozdova, Alexandra and Gina Paradis, all of Folsom CA; Brendan and Michael Carlson of Tacoma WA. Her great-grandchildren range in age from seven months to seventeen years: Elon Christensen; Shane, Jacob, Oliver Morrow; Sidney, Owen, William, Ethan, Hattie, Audrey and Cole Morrow; Ethan, Hailey, Forest and Amelia Hampson; Grace, Clayton, Benjamin, Samuel and Gwen Cook.
