Obituary

Shirley Jean Olson, age 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 13, 2026, in Kennewick, Washington. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Shirley was born on April 27, 1935, in Torrington, Wyoming, to Doyle and Edith Adams. She grew up alongside her brother, Vernon Adams, who is married to Diane.

Shirley shared 64 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Robert Olson. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, laughter, and countless memories. They were blessed with two daughters, Vicki and Debi.

Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family was at the center of her world. Her daughter Vicki is married to Jim Linck, and together they have two children, Morgan and Garrett. Morgan is married to Jake Hascall, and they have a son, Chase Hascall, Shirley’s great-grandson. Garrett is married to Gabrielle Linck.

Shirley had a wonderful sense of fun and a competitive spirit that kept her family on their toes. She was a true card shark, and right up until her passing, she could still easily beat any of her kids at a game of cards. Those games provided plenty of laughter, teasing, and memories that her family will treasure for years to come.

Shirley also enjoyed cooking and baking for the people she loved. Her home was always the place to be—a gathering place filled with laughter, wonderful food, and the warmth of family and friends. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcome, and many cherished memories were created around her table.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert, and her parents, Doyle and Edith Adams.

Shirley leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, family traditions, and memories that will be carried forward for generations. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the family she loved so dearly and in the many lives she touched.

She will always be remembered with love—and perhaps, with a deck of cards in hand.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to the American Heart Association.
