Shirley Sylvia Shaw Garrison, our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, January 30, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was constantly surrounded and comforted by her family and friends. She was born in Hudson Bay Junction, Saskatchewan, Canada May 26, 1946. The family moved to Finley in the early 50's, where she attended school K-12. She is still friends with her classmates, including Annie Darby, who was always there for her, especially the last year of her life. The light of her life were her sons Randy and Ryan and her grandchildren Zachy and Brookie. She was a loving and caring daughter helping care for her parents, Warren and Lillian, in the later years of their lives. Shirley enjoyed sharing her life with her brothers, Cliff and Allen and her little sister, Karla. Being a babysitter and friend to nephew Cody and niece Kelsey was important to her. Special times with nieces and nephews included camping, Christmas Eve traditions, and overnights at her house, ocean trips, Bloomsday Walks in Spokane, country concerts, movies, and of course shopping. She was an administrative assistant at Lockheed Martin for many years, where her outgoing personality and inviting smile brought her lifelong friends. Traveling with friends brought her great pleasure. She loved the excitement of planning as much as the vacations and special trips themselves. Once a friend, always a friend. When in need she could always be counted on. She is survived by her sons Randall Garrison and grandson Zachery, Ryan Garrison and granddaughter Brooklynn, brothers; Cliff &Lorna Shaw, Allen Shaw, sister, Karla Shaw Neil, nieces and nephews: Michele & Gary Adams, Janet & Jerald Brady, Diane & Rob Hendrickson, Becky Shaw Todd, Cody Cavazos, Kelsey Cavazos, numerous great and great- great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, nephews, David Shaw and Rolando Cavazos. There will be a viewing at Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. 1st Ave, Kennewick, Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 5 to 8pm. A memorial celebrating her life will be held at The Living Room Community Church, 1007 Wright, Richland, Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in her name, to The Living Room building fund, the Tri-City Cancer Center or Tri-City Hospice. Thank you Shirley for the love you shared with everyone around you.
