Shirley Alaine Haugen was born in McVille, North Dakota, on January 31st, 1928, to Ole and Alfa Haugen. She had three older brothers: Obert, Maynard and Hilman and one younger brother: Milo. In 1940 the family moved west to settle in Ellensburg, WA. It was in Ellensburg where she met Ralph E. Miller Sr., the love of her life. They were married on June 5, 1948 and soon started a family. When they moved to Kennewick in 1956 they already had three sons. By 1965 they had four more to complete their family of 7 boys. Sadly, Ralph passed away in 1976. In 1997 she met and married Cecil Cotterell. They enjoyed several years of traveling and visiting with their family members. She will be fondly remembered by the Cotterell family that she welcomed into her heart. Shirley's life was full of love for her family, her church, her Norwegian heritage and her flowers. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved spending time in her yard with family, friends and her flowers. Shirley was also a long-time member of the Sons of Norway and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She is survived by her sons, DeWayne Miller (Gay), Ralph Miller Jr. (Kathy), Mark Miller (Joli), Dana Miller, Mick Miller (Terrilynn), and Jeff Miller (Yolanda), and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph and Cecil, and her son, Lauren. Viewing will be held Friday, March 13, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union Street, Kennewick. Funeral Services will be held March 14th, 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel, 4445 S. Olympia St, Kennewick. A subsequent graveside service, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, and a luncheon at the church will follow.
