Sharon Jones Sellereite, 74, passed away on November 19, 2024. Born in Seattle, Washington on August 24, 1950. Sharon was known for standing up for what she believed in. With her deep desire paired with her academic talent she was able to accomplish many things. She was key in driving the decision of the school board to offer a girls soccer team at Connell High School, create and organized the Connell Track Club with Ken (her husband) for many years, dedicated endless hours of Guardian Ad Litem work for foster children and completed her Master's degree in Environmental Science. Her passion to make this world a better place was evident in her love for the earth and like-minded people.

Sharon was a lifelong learner and was always looking for ways to serve, learn and teach others. Some of her hobbies included, hammer throw, knitting, studying the Bible, gardening and journaling. She wrote something in her journal every day for over 50 years.

Sharon Sellereite is survived by her husband of 51 years, Kenneth Sellereite, her brother Douglas Jones (Katherine), sister Julianna Steveley (John); Children – April Sellereite, Carrie Frank (Ryan), Ian Sellereite; And grandchildren – Jewel York, Cooper Frank, Chloe Frank, Reese Frank, Ryker Frank and Ruby Frank. Sharon Sellereite is preceded in death by her brother Gregory Jones and parents, Eugene and Charlotte Jones.

Sharon was born and raised in the View Ridge community of Seattle, Washington. She attended View Ridge Elementary down the street from her childhood home, Nathan Eckstein Junior High School, and Roosevelt High School. Growing up she was a competitive swimmer and lifeguard at the community pool, taking after her mother who loved swimming. During high school she could be seen hiking up flights of stairs with her cello and in a skirt. Her summers were spent being a camp counselor at Camp Sealth.

After high school, she attended Western Washington University where she met Ken. They both graduated with their Bachelor of Science degrees in Education. Ken and Sharon lived in many places before settling in Connell, Washington and raising their three children. Ken and Sharon celebrated 51 years of marriage in December 2023.

At this time there will not be a service, but a celebration of life is tentatively planned summer 2025. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Nature Conservancy or help a family you know to be in need.
