Obituary

Sharlyn ReJean Berger, 83, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.

Sharlyn was born on January 23, 1943 in Glendale, California to Melvin and Ilene Harris and moved to Cresbard, SD as a young girl. Growing up she loved music and played the saxophone in the band all through high school and also played the piano, often making everyone sing Christmas songs before they could open presents while she played!

Sharlyn was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard planting flowers. She took great pride in her yard and even earned "Yard of the Month" for three years. Sharlyn was a stay at home mom until the girls grew up then worked for United States Congress, Doc Hastings office for 20 years until her retirement.

She is pre deceased by her loving husband Robert Berger, parents Melvin and Ilene Harris and youngest sister Sandra Rowe. She is survived by her daughter Kim (Rich) Maki, Michelle Ferguson, son in law Troy Butler (Elia), granddaughters Brooklyn and Paten Butler and grandsons Brandon (Tristen) and Alex Ferguson as well and great granddaughters Ellaia and Dani Ferguson, great grandson Emmett Ferguson, bonus daughter Melanie Huminsky.

A very special thanks to her loving caregivers Nancy, Alex, Glenda, Vanessa and Gracie who lovingly cared for her the last 8 years of her life after suffering a stroke.

Per her wishes there will not be any services. She and Bob were very involved in the Shrine Club and any donations to the Shriners Hospital in Spokane in her name would be greatly appreciated.
