Obituary

Selma Mary Peterson, age 83 of Kennewick, died Sunday, December 14th, 2008. She was born in Terry, MT to Soren & Marie Hanson on September 11th, 1925. She moved to Washington and married Clayton J. Peterson. Together they had 6 sons. Mary held various jobs throughout the years. After moving to the Tri-Cities she worked for GTE, AAA & helped to take care of two of her youngest grandchildren for almost 16 years. Mary loved to play the piano, sew, paint ceramics, attend Bible study and was very active in her church until she fell ill. Family was very important to her. She loved spending time with her siblings. She especially enjoyed their trip to Norway. She really enjoyed family reunions where she would dance the Chicken Polka and the Schottische. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her first born son Dennis Peterson; sisters Alma Boyd and Ruby Freeman and brothers, Melvin, Wally & Arley "Bud" Hanson. She is survived by her sons; Lonnie Gini, Dale Dot, Darrel Sharon, Ron Rosalinda, Dave Betsy; sister, Doris Warren; brothers, Willard Hanson, Stanley Hanson; grandchildren, Darren, Jimmy, Mark, Ryan, Jake, John, Robert, Bruce, Dan, Adam and Erik Peterson, Wendy Weissenfluh and Pam Yenney; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Delores Vasquez and the staff at The Vineyard Adult Family Home, Dr. Victor Brooks and Julie Schmidt at the Chaplaincy at Hospice for all of their loving care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20th at 3:30 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral home, 1401 S Union, Kennewick.
