Sarian Onike Finney (nee Fynn) was born on September 17, 1934, in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa, to Reginald Sydney and Caroline Jane Matilda Ettennie Fynn; who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her late husband, Theodore Sanoway Finney and daughters, Theodora Sarian Finney and Annie Valerie Hingston.

SO or SOF, as she is fondly known, is survived by her children: Ethelbert Finney, Christiana Josiah, Harolda Finney and Olive Harding. Daughter-in-law: Emma Finney. Sons-in-law: Tamba Josiah and Charles Hingston. Grand Children: Etheline, Harold, Barbara, Charlrie, Lynette, Caroline, Othniella, Margaret, and Martina. Great Grand Children: George, Sanaal, Dacian, Micah, Theodore, Yasin, Annie, and Sienna.

Sarian is also survived by her siblings: Reginald and Arthur Fynn. Sisters-in-law: Celia and Amy Fynn. Her “adopted” sister: Marjory Harding. Her “adopted” son: Frederick Morrisey; along with several cousins, nephews, and nieces.

She graduated from Methodist Girls High School and built a career as a Registered Nurse and Midwife. She spent most of her career working at the West End Clinic in Freetown; where she was known for her love for people and her big smile. Whilst delivering numerous babies at the Clinic and private homes.

On November 16, 1961, Sarian was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her faith became an important and meaningful part of her life, because she loves her great God Jehovah with her whole heart, mind and soul. She loved preaching and teaching others about God’s Word the Bible, as was commanded by Jesus Christ at Mathew 28:19, 20. One of her favorite scripture is Romans 8:38, 39 (NWT), which reads:

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God’s love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Until Sarian passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, she lived her life accordingly; leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, family, and devotion; which will be cherished in loving memory by her immediate and adopted families and friends across the world.

Sarian was known for her love and kind deeds. She went out of her way for both family and non-family members. She was loved despite her being outspoken. She touched many lives in and out of the Christian Congregation, and she tried her utmost best to help her family hold on to the TRUTH. Even when she was limited by old age and sickness she took her meetings and ministry very seriously; a very fine example of a zealous servant of Jehovah. She will surely be missed; however, we hope to see her soon in the resurrection.
