Sara Girmai (Abeba Gebretatios) was born in Eritrea to her beloved mother, Shashu Kifle, and her father, Gebretatios Tesfamichel. At a young age, she left Eritrea with her parents and moved to Ethiopia, where she continued her upbringing and education.

She began her studies at Shimelis Habte Elementary School, continued to Kokebe Atsbeha Middle School, and then attended Etege Mennen High School. After high school, she pursued her education at TTI (Teacher Training Institute), preparing herself for a life of service and contribution.

In 1975, during the government's national mobilization campaign, Sara traveled to Shenele, Harar, where she joined the youth movement dedicated to eradicating illiteracy across Ethiopia. This effort reflected her passion for education and her deep care for uplifting others.

Sara's professional journey began at the Port of Assab, where she worked as a statistician until 1991. She was later transferred to the warehouse department, serving as a warehouse representative. Her diligence and work ethic made her a trusted member of her team.

In 1999, Sara moved to Norway where she lived for two years before immigrating to the United States. She built a new life while working in Louisiana and Georgia, and eventually settled in Richland, Washington, which became her final home.

Sara was known for her warm laughter, generous heart, and love for helping people. She never married, but instead dedicated her life to supporting her parents and siblings. Her selflessness and devotion left a lasting impact on her family and community.

She is survived by her loving siblings, Tsehi Mengestu, Fitsum, Genet, who carries forward her memory and legacy. Sara's (Abeba) life was a journey of service, sacrifice, and love. From Eritrea to Ethiopia, from Norway to the United States, she touched many lives along the way. Her laughter and kindness will never be forgotten, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew her.
