Obituary

Our amazing mother Sandra Kay (Christensen) Meigs went home to the Lord on October 20,

2022 after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.

Born May 19, 1943 in Hyannis, Nebraska Sandra moved with her parents John & Maxine

Christensen to Kennewick, Washington in 1944. Sandra attended school in Richland and

Kennewick graduating from Kennewick High in 1961.

Sandra married Jon Koker in 1961. These years she was active in bowling, raising two

daughters and working at Dean's Steakhouse.

She married Jim Meigs in 1976. They moved to Wyoming in 1980 where they raised two sons,

enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Sandra worked for the State of Wyoming in Job Corp helping

youth obtain work.

The family returned to the Tri-Cities in 1991 where Sandra joined the Benton County Sheriff's

Office until her retirement in 2001.

Sandra & Jim enjoyed 40 years of marriage doing all the things they loved; traveling, RVing,

fishing, playing cards, garage saling and making a beautiful home where they were always

surrounded by the love of their family.

After Jim's death in 2015 Sandra joined Westside Church in Richland serving as Deacon until

her illness. There she joined a small group of women where she was truly blessed by

friendships that became a great source of happiness and support.

Sandra will be remembered and held in the hearts of her children Debra (Randy) Mettille, Jeri

Lynn (Mike) Paull, Christen Meigs and Jim Meigs; brother Jerry (Kay) Christensen, sisters Jan

Foster and Brenda Young; grandchildren Deena, Tony, Jon and Paul; great grandchildren

Jacob, Carlie and Rhys; cousin Linda (Christensen) Hurlburt, nieces, nephews, cousins and

friends.

She sang, whistled, lived and loved joyfully. For God she lived and to God's embrace she now

goes.

Donations may be made in her honor to Westside Church, Richland, WA or Highland Park

Church, Casper, WY.

We love you mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. We

will be together, forever, once again.
