Sally Ann Costanzo, 80 years old, of Pasco, passed away in the early morning of November 27, 2017 at Kadlec Hospital, following a fall after hitting her beautiful head, having emergency brain surgery, never recovering. Although she put up a good fight, for 11 days. Sally was born in Milwaukie, Oregon on February 15, 1937 to Annie Cletus Taylor and Joseph Gale Taylor. Sally's grandma Elizabeth Turney helped raise Sally and her only sibling Francis "Jean" Martin, while their mother worked and followed the crops during the Great Depression. Years later, Sally's mother Annie, who was a cook at a farm in Springfield, Illinois, met their future stepfather Royal Reid, who was also working this same farm as a handyman. They were courting for about a year, then married in 1953, this same year they moved to Kennewick, Washington, so Roy could work in Richland, Washington at Hanford on the Manhattan Project. Sally was a senior at Kennewick High School, when she met the love of her life Joseph Angelo Costanzo at a football game. The boss' daughter and Little Joe never hit it off, but Sally and Joe did!!! A few dates later, they were engaged, but waited until a little after Sally graduated in 1955 from Kennewick High School. They married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church December 19, 1955 in Pasco, Washington. In 1957 they had their first daughter Janice Costanzo-Billings (partner Eric) of Kennewick, then came Joyce (Tim) Ortiz of Spokane, MaryJo (Dan) Ward of Eltopia, Michael (Tracy) of Pasco, Angela Costanzo (partner Steve) of Pasco, Rosie Costanzo-Covington (partner Mel) of Pasco, Joe Joe (partner Kelly) of Kennewick. Sally is survived by her beloved husband Joseph of 62 years, their 7 above named children, 17 grandchildren, 4 great grandsons and 1 step grandson, her sister Francis "Jeannie" Martin of Spokane, brother-in-law Costantino and sister-in-law Giovanna of Ontario, Canada, many nieces and nephews in Spokane, Seattle, Canada, Alaska and Dubai. She worked at Kelly's Answering Service then retiring from Columbia Basin Answering when Joe retired after 45 years at BNSF. Sally also worked as a cook for a summer or two with friend and neighbor Vonne Graybill at the Migrant Day Care Center in Pasco. She worked for the Franklin County Voting Polls during the elections. Sally excitedly waited for her name to be called for Jury Duty. Mom volunteered at the Hospice, the Mission, was a Eucharistic Minister, Sally brought Communion and prayer to the shut ins at the nursing home, the retirement home, and other private homes. Sally enjoyed camping at the ocean, all over the mountains, gambling in Reno, Elko, Winnemucca, and wherever else she could go. In the spring of 1968, sally braved a long train trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado to visit her sister and family, while pregnant and with 5 of us young kids in tow for a week or two. Sally loved to sing! It was a proud day, one summer in the late 70's or early 80's when mom won a singing contest on the radio- KALE. The prize? A boat ride with the late Bill Muncey (hydroplane race boat driver of the Atlas Van Lines) in his own private ski boat. Sally was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Pasco, for about 63 years. She was a past President and member of the Altar Society, member of the church choir, and member of the Railroad Auxiliary. Sally was an avid bowler, winning many trophies, pins, patches and other miscellaneous awards. Mom had fabulous big Interior Decorating parties, Tupperware and Tierra Glassware parties. Mom walked the neighborhoods every fall/spring to collect dimes for the original March of Dimes, when they only collected in February/March. Mom never ever complained about anything. Sally loved to travel! She went to Alaska, Hawaii (a couple of times), Europe with a bunch of girlfriends, including great friend Clara Wright. Mom was one of the "Old Timers" (original ones) that helped bring BINGO to the Tri-Cities. First in the St. Patrick's school basement. Sally was predeceased by her parents, 2 children, Joseph Angelo, 21 days, Patricia Ann, 2 days; brother-in-law Santo and wife of Canada. Viewing will be Sunday, December 3 from 3:00pm-8:00pm with the rosary at 6:00pm at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home 1608 W Court St. Pasco. The mass will be Monday, December 4 at 11:00am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 1320 W. Henry St. in Pasco, with burial to follow at City View Cemetery in Pasco. There will be a luncheon at St. Patrick's in the gym following the graveside service.
