Obituary

Ruth Marie Harrop passed away on Dec. 12, 2015 at the age of 100. Ruth was born at Eagle Lake, Minnesota to Rev. Frank and Mabel Erickson. Ruth's father was a Lutheran pastor. After the death of Rev. Erickson, Mabel settled in Battle Lake, Minnesota where Ruth attended high school, graduating in 1933. Having a mother who taught piano, Ruth learned to play at a young age and was active playing at church functions, plays, Glee club and was in musicals and the choir. Ruth attended Moorhead State College and went on to teach elementary education in Minnesota and Boise, Idaho where she met her future husband, Carl Harrop, who was a pharmacist. Ruth and Carl were married in 1947. In 1962 the family moved to Kennewick, Washington where Carl was employed by Crescent Drugs. They joined the Kennewick First Lutheran Church and Ruth was a member for 53 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Carl. She is survived by her son, Dr. Steven Harrop and daughter-in-law Leslye, from Winthrop; grandsons Hunter Harrop from Seattle and Jake Harrop from Wenatchee; and her sister Helen Ollila and husband Ray, from Redding, California. Services are scheduled at 11:00 AM, Friday, Dec.18 at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, Kennewick. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Kennewick.
