Russell Carl Vickerman passed away at his home on July 28, 2025, at the age of 75.

Russ's first love was Jesus Christ. His second love was his wife, Sue. He also loved others in his family as a father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle. He also impacted many other lives as a school teacher, coach, Bible teacher, fisherman, tennis player, golfer and author.

He was born to Earl and Eleanor Vickerman on November 26, 1949, in Duluth, Minnesota. The family moved to Benton City, WA, shortly after he was born. Growing up in Benton City, he developed a love for the outdoors and sports. While in high school, he became an excellent athlete. He married his high school sweetheart, Sue, on September 13, 1969. They had a beautiful Christian marriage until Sue's departure in March 2018. They are now reunited in Jesus.

After graduating from Washington State University, Russ embarked on a long and successful teaching career. He began teaching and coaching in Wapato. Russ and Sue moved to Benton City in 1978. Russ continued teaching and coaching at Kiona-Benton High School until his retirement. Russ won the Crystal Apple Award for his engaging teaching strategies. When out in public, he would often be greeted by former students and athletes — even many years after his retirement.

Russ had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest through his many hobbies. Although he was an excellent tennis player and golfer, he may be best known as a fisherman. He loved fishing for steelhead and trout with family and friends.

Following their retirement, Russ vigilantly stood by Sue's side as she bravely battled cancer. During this time, Russ developed a special relationship with Pastor John Gakanga. Pastor John and his church in Arizona were a blessing to Russ in his later years. In the years following Sue's death, the Lord placed a strong calling on Russ's life. He became a respected Bible teacher and Christian author. He enjoyed leading and participating in several Bible studies in the Tri-Cities area. His book ("QARA") can still be found on Amazon. He was writing a second book at the

time of his passing.

Russ is survived by his son, Lance Vickerman, and his wife, Kirsten, of Olympia and their children Taylor (wife Emily, and son), Brayden, Hayleigh and Maylynn. He is also survived by his daughter, Heidi Wolfe, of Richland.

The family would like to thank Pastor Larry Howell, Jeannie Howell and the members of Victory Christian Center in Benton City for displaying genuine Christian love to Russ and his family.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2:00pm on Friday, August 22nd, 2025, at Calvary Chapel Tri-Cities (10611 W Clearwater Ave, Kennewick), with a reception to follow.
