In loving memory of Russell Sanford Pogue (1950-2016) Russ Pogue died a happy man. Since his retirement last fall, he experienced enlightenment: a flood of constant joy which he shared freely with everyone. It was wonderful to witness his happiness, as it gives meaning to his tragic death: a fatal motorcycle crash. Russ was a hardworking man of action whose motto was "Let's get something done!" He was proud of his service in Vietnam. He could often be seen hiking Badger Mountain, wearing a bright orange t-shirt. In 1999 Russ started a local moving company, Help-U-Move, and built a successful business from scratch. Over the years he enjoyed meeting the thousands of customers he helped. He avidly studied the principles of business, even after he retired. Russ liked to recite the famous poem "Desiderata." Over his lifetime, he finally came to embody its message of serenity. His favorite line: "You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. You have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should." Russell Sanford Pogue was a provider, a competent and generous human being. He loved his family and helped anyone in need. He was dedicated to his brothers and sisters: Al, Dan, Bill, Bob, Jim, Katie & Mary. He was an inspirational father to his three children with his first wife, Mary Lou: Max, Lindsay, and Aaron. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S Union St., Kennewick.
