Russell Leslie Carpenter was born on Jan 15, 1944 in St. Helens, Oregon to Russell Clyde Carpenter and Doris (Graunitz) Carpenter. He passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Pasco, WA after enduring a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. He was raised in his early years in Oregon & moved to Washington where he has lived for 60 years. Russell graduated from Kennewick High School (Class of 1962). Russell married the Love of his life Tana Claycomb in 1963 in Kennewick, WA and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for Time & All Eternity with their 3 children in 1973. Russell had a great career working for Boise Cascade for 37 ½ years as a pulp mill operator and retired in 2005 as a shift foreman. Russell was a dedicated loving husband and the most amazing father a kid could have. He taught his kids and grandkids by his example. Family meant everything to him. He was a great friend to all who knew him. Russell had a true faith in his religion and enjoyed service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Russell enjoyed many activities over his lifetime, always trying something new. He was a member of FFA. He loved motorcycles and taking trips with his wife Tana. Hunting, fly fishing, running marathons, biking, playing softball and was an avid baseball fan (Go Braves!), archery, being a Scout Leader, camping trips to Desolation, Oregon with his family, backpacking with son/grandsons and the guys to Standley, Idaho, traveling to Hawaii, and taking Cruises with his wife. He loved restoring old cars with his son – Ken. Russell is survived by his wife Tana of 51 years and 3 Children: Lesly (Mark) Wall, Ken (Lisa) Carpenter, Wendi (Steve) Flanary. 13 – Grandchildren: Cassie (Dominic), Daniel, Jared (Katlyn), Corey (Christina), Samantha (Sean), Courtney, Riley, Cirstin, Marisa, Bryan, Heather (Zach), Breanne (Tony), and Leah. 6 – Great Grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters: Donna Plante, Terry (Neil) Richter & Paulette Edwards. Sisters-in-law: Judy Fogleman, Aloha (Pete) Rath & Loretta Claycomb and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Preceded Russell in passing are his parents Russell & Doris Carpenter, In-laws: George P. & June Claycomb, Brothers-in-law: Micheal (Jim) Claycomb, Walt Fogleman, Fred Claycomb, Rod Plante. Special thanks for the love and care given to Russell by all his caregivers. Viewing will be Tuesday, March 17th from 5 to 7pm at Mueller's (Chapel of the Falls), 314 W. First Avenue in Kennewick. Services will be Wednesday, March 18th, at 1pm, with viewing at 12pm at the LDS Church, 4445 South Olympia Street, Kennewick. Burial will follow at Riverview Heights
