Obituary

Rogelio Jalomo Vargas July 9, 1959 – August 12, 2013 Our beloved Rogelio (Roy) J. Vargas, 54, passed away at his home in Pasco on the morning of August 12, 2013. A devoted father, grandfather, brother and uncle, he leaves a loving family who remembers him for his kindness and love. He was born to Felix and Santos Vargas in Pasco on July 9, 1959 and was one of 10 children. Aside from a brief time in the military, he lived and worked his entire life in the Tri-Cities, Washington. Roy served the City of Kennewick as a utility services employee until an illness forced him to retire. To family, friends and co-workers, he is forever remembered as a happy and fun-loving person. He was especially known for his wonderful sense of humor. Following retirement, he devoted 100 percent of his time to his three children and grandchildren and to monitoring the well-being of his mother and father. He had only recently become a grandfather again. Roy enjoyed the Vargas family reunions and cook-outs and was an avid sports fan. He was especially proud of his youngest daughter's athletic accomplishments, attending all of her games and related events. He was also very proud of his older daughter's professional career and of his son, Roy Jr., who works as a journeyman carpenter at the Hanford site. And, of course, Roy always had time for his granddaughters, whom he cherished greatly. He leaves an extended Vargas family. Aside from son Roy Jr. (Chandra) and daughters Felicia and Victoria, he leaves granddaughters Alize and Aniyah and Amerii, Lyza and Gavin. Roy also leaves his parents, his brother Felix (Loretta), sister Pauline Rieger (Jim), sister Maria, brother Antonio (Mary), brother Fidencio (Nina), brother Frank (Estella), and sisters Santos Scott, Janie Brim (William), and Lupe Montelongo (Albert). Additionally, he leaves many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Juan and Josefa Jalomo, and his nephew Jesse Ramirez, Jr. Though Roy is no longer with us, we treasure his memory and shall forever hold him in our hearts. Arrangements are being handled by Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home of Pasco. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 16, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held also at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, Pasco, on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 11:00 am, followed by interment at City View Cemetery, Pasco.
