Rosemary Campbell, age 89, passed peacefully and surrounded by family on June 9, 2016, in Kennewick, WA. Rosemary was born August 13, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri to Bernard H. and Kathryn M. Nordmann. She was the third youngest daughter, in a family of 11 children. Rosemary was raised in St. Louis where her father founded a newspaper, The 39th Street Neighborhood News. She shared many fond memories with us about her childhood with her brothers and sisters and her time at St. Elizabeth Academy. In 1946 Rosemary married the love of her life, Mark Campbell, MD, whom she had met while he was in Medical School at St. Louis University. Mark finished his medical training with the U.S. Navy, which brought Rosemary and Mark to many different locales during the first years of their marriage. In August 1954, the family settled in Pasco. Rosemary's strength, which was profound, really exhibited itself during this move. She had moved 2,000 miles away from her family, to a place where the heat was sweltering and a fence was needed to keep the sand dunes out of the yard. She made Pasco a home for her family and many others. She always managed to make everyone feel provided for and loved whether family or neighbor. Rosemary's spirit, generosity and faith were innumerable. She had a zest for life that never conceded and her sense of humor carried her and many others throughout her life. If Rosemary was around, there was always laughter. Her love of art and golf kept her active and passionate; sharing her talents with those around her. Rosemary's home was warm and inviting and always filled with people. As a young mom, there was an open door policy for friends and family alike. Rosemary offered anything she could to those less fortunate, her greatest gift being herself. Rosemary's faith in the Catholic Church was the guiding force throughout her life. She never missed a Sunday Mass and participated extensively in numerous Catholic women's organizations. She was a staple at St. Patrick's, where her children attended school and then later in life at St. Joseph's in Kennewick. Rosemary was truly the matriarch of the family. She was our conscience, our comforter, our encourager and our comic relief. She will be missed dearly by her children, Patti McKillop, Mark Campbell, James Campbell, MD, Mary Ann Bruce, Michael Campbell, David Campbell, Katie Pence, Rocky Forbes and Sandra Milligan, their spouses, her 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosemary Campbell's name to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund. There will be a Rosary for Rosemary on Thursday, June 16th at 7:00pm, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. There will also be a Mass of Christian Burial for Rosemary on Friday, June 17th at 11:00am, also at St. Joseph's Church.
