Ronald Henry Wojnas, MD

Funeral services for Ronald Henry Wojnas, MD, will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 515 S Union St, Kennewick, WA 99336. The viewing will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow the service. Arrangements are under the care of Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home.

Dr. Wojnas was born in Ware, Massachusetts, and raised in North Brookfield by his beloved grandmother. He earned a B.S. in Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy before attending the University of California, San Francisco, where he earned his MD. Following a pediatric internship at Seattle's Children's Orthopedic Hospital and a residency at UCLA's Harbor General Hospital, he served proudly as a pediatrician in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1969, spending one year of that time stationed in Taipei, Taiwan.

In 1972, Dr. Wojnas founded the Center for Pediatrics in Kennewick, Washington, where he dedicated over 50 years to the health and well-being of children and their families. A pioneer in the treatment of ADHD, he became a trusted authority, helping children thrive and even extending care to adults long before ADHD was widely recognized. He was known for his compassion, resilience, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his patients. He also served as the founder and medical director of a methadone clinic from 1970 to 1980, reflecting his deep concern for addressing addiction within the community.

Beyond medicine, Ronald was a man of many passions. He loved snorkeling, boogie boarding, hiking, tending to his wildflower garden, and spending time on the beach. A devoted father and grandfather, he taught his children and grandchildren to swim and snow ski, creating memories that will last generations. He enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoyed vacations with family and friends, and found joy in every moment shared with his beloved dogs, Zoso and Enzo.

On December 22, 2024, our beloved father peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father. He was born on March 9, 1937. Dr. Wojnas was preceded in death by his father, Henry John Wojnas; his mother, Mary Petronella Klimavich; his brother, Henry John Wojnas Jr.; his son, Tennyson Tavelle Wojnas; his great-granddaughter, Eleanor "Ellie" Elayne Dansie, stillborn September 7, 2021; and black Labrador Retriever Zoso. He is survived by his five children: Melanie (Mark), Kristin (Trent), Sean (Leslie), Tiffany (Garth), and Tosca (Kevin), seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, chocolate Labrador Retriever Enzo, and countless patients and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and dedication.

His legacy as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, extraordinary physician, and cherished community member, rooted in his unwavering faith in his Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will endure forever.
