Ronald Alan Nelson lost his fight against Cancer on April 30, 2022 at the age of 71. Ron lived a vibrant life full of love and laughter. Born in Okinawa to​ Richard and Lowell Nelson, Ron was one of four kids. He grew up​ with his two sisters and parents traveling the world as a navy family. Moving so much seemed to suit Ron's extroverted personality;​easily collecting friends and stories as he moved through life. Ron's​ story had many beautiful chapters, filled with many beautiful​ people. As Ron was old enough to leave the house Ron followed his​ dad and joined the Navy. Ron had a few loves in his life that brought important pieces into it. But ultimately was blessed to spend 32 wonderful years with​ the love of his life, Sandy. These two brought together 11 children,​ 28 grandkids and 5 great-grandkids. He enjoyed spending time with ​grandkids and teaching the youngest to nap in his chair. Ron​ enjoyed sports and especially loved the times he got to take as many​ of his boys he could recruit to Mariners games. He loved talking with his girls as the​y sat on the arm of his chair or playing a card game with the family. Ron loved a good western, a good mystery, laughing with his family, delving into history, teaching others and always learning more. He​ loved serving in his church and those around him. He had a deep​ love of Christ and was always striving to make choices that would​ please his Heavenly Father. Ron loved his life, loved Sandy and the large family they brought together. Ron will be missed by all those he has left behind. His life and legacy will continue to be celebrated by those here today and many others. Until we meet again. A funeral service to honor this great man is to be held at 10 am on May 9th, 2022 at the LDS Church at 895 Gage Blvd Richland, WA 99352.
