Obituary

After 90 years of eventful living, Ron passed away on May 7, 2025. On April 3rd, 1935, Ron and his twin brother, Don, were born to Tony and Lois Briskey in their farmhouse located south of Naches, Washington.

Ron attended Naches public schools and in 1954 he graduated from Naches Valley High School where he excelled in all major sports. While attending Yakima Valley Junior College (YVJC), he was drafted into the military. After basic training, he was stationed at Camp Hanford, Washington, a Nike Missile Site, which protected the Hanford project. Following his military service, he continued his education at YVJC then transferred to Eastern Washington College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in education in 1961.

In 1961 Ron married Jill Manring, also from Naches. The couple moved to Kennewick where both were employed by the Kennewick School District. In July of 1967 Ron and Jill welcomed son, Josh, into their lives. Josh was the joy of Ron's life.

For 30 years Ron was a physical education teacher and coach at Highlands Middle School in Kennewick. The most rewarding experience in his long career was teaching students with special needs, which included preparing them for the local Special Olympics.

After retirement, Ron enjoyed restoring vintage furniture, and he continued to be an avid collector of items too numerous to mention. He and Jill enjoyed participating in antique and collectible shows throughout the Northwest.

Ron valued the many friends he made through sports, teaching, coaching and collecting. After retiring, early every morning he joined friends at a local restaurant for coffee and chatting.

Cannon Beach, Oregon and Grayland, Washington were Ron's favorite family vacation destinations.

His was a life well lived.

Ron is survived by Jill, wife of 63 years, son, Josh, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Don, brothers Joe and John and sister, Doris.
