In Memory of Roger Alan Lucas

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roger Alan Lucas, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully at his home on August 6, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on January 10, 1954, in Yakima, WA, Roger was the youngest of four children born to Richard and Marjorie Lucas. His childhood was marked by joyful days spent at the family apple orchard, participating in bowling leagues, and playing basketball. After graduating from Selah High School in 1972, Roger attended Spokane Valley Community College and Central Washington University. He dedicated over 40 years to the fruit warehouse industry.

Roger's greatest joys were found in coaching and watching his daughters play various sports, as well as traveling to WSU football games. His passion for golf was evident in the many rounds he played with friends over the years. Roger was a lifelong, dedicated Seattle Seahawk and Mariners fan.

Roger is survived by his daughters, Ashley Haworth (Tony) and Kiera McFadden (Rivers); three grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Wiseman (Jerry), Kathy Duncan, and Karen Goverau; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marjorie Lucas, and his brothers-in-law, Dean Goverau and John Duncan. Roger will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his love for sports, and his compassionate nature. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will remain with us always.

A Celebration of Roger's life will be held on October 27th, 2024, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Elks Golf and Country Club, 318 Golf Course Loop Rd, Selah, WA.
