Obituary

Robin Wayne Amend was born on November 17, 1952, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Robert and Darlene Amend. In 1956, when Robin was three years old, his father accepted a position with General Electric in Richland, Washington. Robert, Darlene, and young Robin traveled across the country by train to begin a new chapter, settling in Kennewick.

Robin was the oldest of two boys. Growing up in the Tri-Cities, he enjoyed playing football and baseball, and his athletic accomplishments were featured in the Tri-City Herald on several occasions. He graduated from Kennewick High School in 1971 and attended Columbia Basin College for a time before working various jobs.

Robin eventually found his calling as a Heavy Equipment Operator with the City of Richland, where he dedicated 35 years of faithful service before retiring in 2013. He was also a proud member of IBEW Local 77.

An avid outdoorsman, Robin had a lifelong passion for fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time on the water with his brother and nephew and was an active member of the Columbia Basin Bass Club, participating in many tournaments over the years.

Robin will be remembered most for his generous spirit and kind heart. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, always willing to lend a hand and put others before himself.

Robin is survived by his nephew, Joe (Jamie); his niece, Christa (David); and his great-nephews and great-nieces, Te'Shaun, Akiah, Travauhn, Londynn, Alden, and TaLeia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Darlene Amend, and his brother, Rich Amend.

Robin's family leaves everyone with a message he would surely appreciate:

Drive safe and wear your seatbelt. Arrivederci.

A Graveside Service will be held at Riverview Heights Cemetery, 1200 S. Olympia St, Kennewick WA. On Friday July 31st at 2:00pm.
