Roberta Mae Kinney, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at home, peacefully in her sleep, on May 2, 2024. She was 88 years-young.

Roberta was born on March 6, 1936, in West Plains, Missouri, to Robert Ward and Lola Oletha (Bridges) Westerfield. She grew up in a close-knit family with her brothers, Robert and Gordon. They moved to Benton City, Washington, in 1948. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Benton City. After graduating from high school, she went to business school in Yakima. She then worked for two years at Hanford as a secretary. She married her first husband, David Flemens, in 1958. They made their first home in Benton City, but eventually settled in East Wenatchee. They had two daughters, Rita and Lori. Roberta loved being a mother and was very devoted to her children.

After 20 years, the marriage ended in divorce and Roberta went back to school at Wenatchee Valley College, earning a General Clerical AA certificate. She then went to work for the state, landing a job at DSHS, where she worked at the food stamp window. She was popular with her coworkers and kind to all who came in for assistance. She retired in 1996 and moved to Benton City after marrying the love of her life, Clifford Kinney. They were together for eight blissful years until Clifford's death.

Roberta deeply loved and was extremely proud of her two children, adored her grandchildren, Michael and Daniel, and her great-grandchildren, Madison and Braden, and cherished every moment she spent with them.

She loved God and attending church, cooking for others, jewelry, going to the casino where she didn't gamble but "played", watching Jimmy Swaggart and true crime stories on TV, shopping on QVC, and playing Scrabble, but she was most passionate about people, making friends wherever she went and maintaining friendships for decades. Whenever she felt blue, she looked for something she could do for someone else. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were important. She was sweet, fun and lively but also warm and caring.

She is survived by her two daughters, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephews Kirk, Darren, Robert, and Drue Westerfield, a very special niece, Nicole Westerfield, son-in-law, Gary Pape, and the best neighbors ever, Dale and Beth Harkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and her beloved parents and two brothers.

A viewing will be held on May 10, 2024, at Mueller's Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m., followed by a burial at 10:30 a.m. At 3:00 p.m. a memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Benton City followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Tri-Cities Chaplaincy.
