Obituary

Robert C. Simpson was born Sept. 29, 1933 in Fresno, California. He passed away at home April 9, 2008. He was a third generation car dealer. He spent 18 years with Ford and Lincoln-Mercury before buying into his first dealership in Yakima in 1976. He moved on to the Tri-Cities, buying the Toyota franchise in 1979. Chrysler-Plymouth, Mitsubishi and Suzuki franchises were added over the next few years. He retired in 1997. He served in the US Army and earned the rank of Master Sergeant before discharging. Bob was an athlete all of his life, earning a full-ride scholarship to Oregon State to play basketball. He was an avid golfer. He was a member of Tri-City Country Club and Meadow Springs. Bob's real passion was traveling; especially to warm, sunny places. He loved to bask by the pool anywhere hot. He spent many wonderful times entertaining family and friends both here and in Mexico, the last few years traveling with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Simpson and their dogs, Romeo and Mr. Miagee and former wife, Earlene Rae Simpson who is mother of his children, Barbara Fangman and husband, Kenny, James Simpson and wife, Rachel; grandchildren, Jessica, Kristen, Michelle, Andrea, Anthony, Alex and Alyssa; and one great-granddaughter, Nicole.
